Sunshine Plaza goes ticketless with a windows-up parking experience
Retail parking should feel like part of the welcome, not a hurdle before the customer reaches the shops.

On 9 June 2026, Sunshine Plaza in Sunshine, Victoria moved to a ticketless parking experience with Ace Parking leading the operational implementation and ongoing management of the parking environment.
The new licence plate recognition system allows customers to enter and exit without collecting or presenting a paper ticket. For eligible visits, that creates a true windows-up journey: arrive, park, shop and leave without winding down the window or handling a ticket.
The system also supports Sunshine Plaza’s free-parking offer, with up to three hours free in the basement subject to the site’s published conditions, alongside free evening parking in the upper car park for qualifying stays. The result is a retail parking experience designed around convenience first, while still giving the property clear operating rules and control.
That is the standard retail parking should be aiming for. The technology is important, but the real value is the customer outcome: fewer physical touchpoints, less friction at entry and exit, and a smoother arrival and departure experience across the centre.
Ace Parking coordinated the operating rules, customer journey, testing, transition and ongoing support around the LPR solution. The project is also a practical example of how retail parking management and parking equipment and technology need to work together around the customer experience.
