For a hotel, the parking experience starts before a guest reaches reception and ends after they leave the property. Pullman Melbourne Albert Park engaged Ace Parking for our experience and insight into identifying the best-fit parking solution for a complex hotel and conference environment.
Ace Parking defined the operating requirements, customer journeys, business rules and implementation approach, then engaged Ticketless Parking to supply and install the selected ticketless LPR equipment.
The result was a simpler entry and exit experience, more flexible parking administration and a controlled transition from the existing SKIDATA environment while the hotel and car park remained operational.
Hotel parking is part of the guest experience
Pullman Melbourne Albert Park is a major hotel and conference destination. The combined Pullman and Mercure property has 378 rooms and advertises up to 500 on-site parking spaces.
The car park needs to support overnight guests, casual parkers, permanent users, conference delegates, event organisers and other authorised users. Each group can require different access, rates and validation rules, but the customer journey still needs to feel simple.
The challenge: replace tickets without disrupting a live hotel
Historical event information for the property described a conventional process using an entry ticket, a separate validation ticket and an automatic pay machine. The project therefore involved a genuine change in the parking operating model rather than a simple equipment replacement.
The new solution needed to support ticketless LPR entry and exit, guest parking, casual and permanent parking, cashless and app-less payment, conference and event validation, special parking rates and a live changeover without avoidable disruption.
An operator-led parking solution
Ace Parking approached the project as a hotel parking operation, not a standalone technology installation.
Our role covered the parking operating model, guest and customer journeys, business rules, technology and supplier selection, payment and validation requirements, supplier coordination, changeover planning and operational readiness.
Ace engaged Ticketless Parking to provide the ticketless LPR equipment and installation. This reflects Ace Parking’s technology-agnostic model: define the required parking outcome first, then select and coordinate the technology needed to deliver it.
Ticketless LPR entry and exit
The new parking environment uses licence plate recognition so the vehicle registration can act as the primary identifier for the parking journey.
On entry, the vehicle can be recognised without the driver collecting a paper ticket. At departure, an authorised or paid vehicle can be recognised again without presenting the same physical credential used on arrival.

More ways to pay, without adding friction
The parking experience was designed around choice. Guests and visitors can move through the car park without being forced into a single payment method or a dedicated parking app.
Conference and event organisers can use QR-based validation to offer specific delegate parking rates, giving the hotel a simple way to manage event parking without reverting to paper vouchers or manual validation processes.
The site also integrates with EasyPark Express Pay. For EasyPark users who have enabled Express Pay, licence plate recognition can start and stop the parking session automatically as the vehicle enters and exits, with payment processed through the user’s preferred payment method in EasyPark.
Together, ticketless LPR, QR validation, app-less payment and EasyPark integration give Pullman the flexibility to serve hotel guests, delegates, permanent parkers and casual users through one parking environment without making every customer follow the same journey.

Managing a live parking-system migration
The existing SKIDATA environment had to be transitioned while the hotel, conference facilities and car park remained operational.
Ace Parking’s project records show the changeover was completed with zero downtime and no revenue leakage.
That outcome matters because a parking technology project should protect customer access, revenue control and the operation of the asset during implementation, not only after commissioning.
The transformation in practice
- Before: event instructions relied on an entry ticket, a separate validation ticket and payment at an automatic pay machine.
- After: permanent and casual parking operate through a ticketless parking environment.
- Event parking: delegate rates can be distributed through QR codes from conference reception.
- EasyPark users: Express Pay adds an automatic camera-based payment pathway for users who choose to enable it.
The change is therefore visible in the customer journey as well as the technology behind it: fewer physical steps, more payment choice and simpler administration across different parking user groups.

Why hotel parking projects need an operator-led approach
Hotels rarely have one parking customer. Overnight guests, conference delegates, restaurant visitors, permanent parkers, staff, suppliers and casual users can all require different access and payment rules.
A technology-only approach can solve the boom gate while leaving the hotel to manage the complexity around it. Ace Parking starts with the operating model, customer journeys and business rules, then configures the technology around them.
